The Most Pathetic Picture You’ll See All Day

Tucked at the very end of a slideshow about the opening of new Yankee Stadium is this absolute gem of a photo. I’m not sure why I love it so much: that the guy on the left is literally jumping for joy at simply being in a new stadium, or that he’s doing it wearing Joba jersey (though I’d wager on this), or the guy on the right, with the muted “fist-pump.” I’m guessing that these were the first three dudes in, which would explain the photo, the relatively empty surroundings, etc., but still: everything I hate about Yankee Stadia is included here.

As some of you also know, I know the “Yankee Stadium Pisser” personally. For those of you who don’t know, this man is suing the Yankees and the NYPD for forcibly ejected him from a game when he tried to use the bathroom during God Bless America. This will probably be the subject of a future post, and I don’t want to say too much here, but there’s nothing about our friendship with this man that would compel us to lie in his defense and I can honestly say there is NO WAY that the NYPD is telling the truth in the incident. I have only been to about 35 games with this guy, and he hasn’t so much as said a single word to anyone around us in anger. Never. Not once. If they were looking to push a narrative on someone, they picked the wrong dude.

Not that I want to get too much into that for now. This is our first one-off post, and I’m happy to do it with a picture that’s worth at least 100,000 words.
